Ethnic Kate and Her Role Models

It looks like Kate gets "ethnic" on her various trips around the world. She even managed to find something "Canadian" on her trip to Canada last summer. The floral prints which she wore in the Solomon Islands this September were in solidarity with the Governor General's wife, who wore her own island floral print dress.

But it is the truly exotic which seems to earn Kate's special respect. Going barefoot and hijabed is one of the ways she shows that respect. She's not alone, and has illustrious role models to follow.

Queen Elizabeth also went barefoot, and diligently covered her head when she went to the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi in 2010, and at the Green Mosque in Turkey in 2008.

Princess Diana wore Islamic dress on many of her trips. And the Crown Prince himself, Kate's father-in-law said this about Islam:

The Islamic world is the custodian of one of the greatest treasuries of accumulated wisdom and spiritual knowledge available to humanity. It is both Islam’s noble heritage and a priceless gift to the rest of the world.

It is no wonder, then, that this deep respect transfers to Kate Middleton, wife of the future King of England, and head of the Church of England, who enters a mosque with her shoes off.

And who else is the role model for Kate but her mother-in-law Princess Diana. Below, she gracefully puts on a pretty floral scarf that matches her green dress, as she enters the Al-Azhar Mosque in Cairo in 1992.


At one time, the monarchs of England fought wars to ward off Islamic invaders. Now, they subserviently enter their places of worship.

Hijabs and Tight Skirts

I wrote earlier about the pseudo-conformity of non-Western immigrants to Canadian society (specifically about Indians) here. Well, Muslim immigrants are no different.

Above are photos (from around the web) that I found where these hijabed girls are also wearing extremely tight skirts. The variation gets worse, where I'm seeing hijabed girls with tight jeans or even leggings that show their protruding behinds and thighs.

I wonder what the Imams think of this? I think they actually give temporary permission to these "Canadian" Muslim girls to wear such clothing so that they can blend in with the rest of the society. It is another stealthy encroachment of Muslims into the West. As these adolescent girls grow up, they become more strict, if what the older women wear is any indication. They will be better versed in Islam, and uncontested believers. They will also make great advocates for Islam. Canadians who think that Muslims will integrate into Canadian society have it all wrong. They just need to look at (the obvious) details to realize what is going on.

Hijabed "Canadians" on Canada Day

These were hijabed "Canadians" at Parliament Hill for the Canada Day festivities (the one at the far right is a Sikh). They were interviewed by a CBC reporter, and each spoke in perfect, unaccented, English. The interviewer introduced them with: "None of you girls were born here, but you love to Celebrate Canada Day. Tell me about one of your favorite Canada Day memories."

There is great prestige in "not being born here," but these hijabed girls clearly spent a large part of their life in Canada, from their perfect, unaccented English. It looks like they immigrated here as very young children, and any associations with "back there" are just nostalgic imagery propagated by their parents.

Research has shown that second generation immigrants from non-white backgrounds are assimilating less into Canadian society than previous white immigrants. These second generation immigrants seem even more "ethnic" than their parents. Muslim girls are now frequently seen fully robed in Islamic clothing, which even their parents are not donning.

I don't think this means these younger generation of immigrants are any more attached to their homelands. I think their parents were much more cautious about exhibiting their true identities when they first arrived, and tried to blend in as much as possible with the rest of Canada superficially. But, they were inculcating and teaching their children that their true identities lie elsewhere.

Now that multiculturalism has won, these same families can send their children to the forefront, to display and maintain their original cultures. Muslims are no different.

From Silky Satin to Full-Body Burqa

Paul K., over at View From the Right has made a funny spoof of my ladies of the French Cabinet. He has covered them up in the most conservative form of Muslim garb, the burqa. But, as with all good jokes, this is not far behind reality (or what could be reality). As Indian Living in the West writes at VFR:

The French socialists are worse than a sick joke...And these women are worse than ridiculous. Imagine a contrast between these women and Mrs. Thatcher. It is almost as though a few centuries separate them, not a few decades.

This is, in any case, a sideshow. The extent of the problems facing France are no longer a well hidden secret. France is on its way to bankruptcy...France will almost certainly default on its debt if the EU goes. It will be a financial catastrophe for France.

Howard Sutherland, following the burqa theme of Paul K., writes:

These unconstrained-by-convention gals no doubt consider themselves political friends and allies of the ever-growing and ever-hostile Moslem population that is spreading throughout France...Seeing these liberated ladies so confidently setting about running France in a leftist-chic, even fun way, I remembered the description of Islam attributed to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, who should know:

Allah did not create man so that he could have fun. The aim of creation was for mankind to be put to the test through hardship and prayer. An Islamic regime must be serious in every field. Getting Ready

Ugliness begets evil. The t-shirt, which is on my list of clothing to avoid, is making news in an ugly way.

Urban Outfitters, another one of those stores which sells:

...a sorry collection of goods. "Distressed" jeans, graffiti t-shirts, and plaid shirts..."

has stretched ugliness to its end: evil.

I cannot find the "Auschwitz Chic" t-shirt at the Urban Outfitters on-line store, but there are enough news agencies reporting on it to validate the authenticity of the photos posted by Atlas Shrugged, who writes:

American clothing company Urban Outfitters is selling a holocaust T-shirt bearing the Jewish star that Jews were forced to wear by the Nazis in death camps. This Urban Outfitters T-shirt is labeled "Auschwitz chic" and retails for $100. The “patchwork Star of David on the left breast pocket goes back to 1930s and 40s Europe.” The “vintage yellow color” of the shirt is Nazi yellow -- obvious to students of Nazi Germany.

Atlas Shrugged has been documenting the products at Urban Outfitters for a number of years:

This is just another in a long line from the antisemitic Urban Outfitters of Jew-hating clothing pieces using monstrous iconography. The latest Jew-hatred fashion follows on the heels of Arafat's war scarf (the keffiyeh) is this Auschwitz tee shirt. The store also generated anger in 2004 with a shirt bearing the words “Everybody Loves a Jewish Girl,” surrounded by dollar signs and shopping bags.

This commercialization of evil is not new for Urban Outfitters.

I titled this post "Getting Ready" since I think this is part of an insidious, popular, shift towards evil. The anti-life, anti-West, anti-Christian coalition is getting ready for its deadly (final?) assault on life and civilization. I don't know how this will manifest itself in our modern era. We saw something of its viciousness during Hitler's time. Now, left-liberals of the West and Muslims are already giving us a glimpse of what we can expect.

In conjunction with this commercial enterprise (perhaps unconnected, but definitely related), American Thinker has posted an article titled "Obama's come-uppance from Elie Wiesel during self-serving visit to Holocaust Museum" on Obama's visit to the Holocaust Memorial Museum on April 23 in honor of the Holocaust Remembrance Day (Yom Hashoah). Am I being too conspiratorial to wonder why Obama couldn't be at the Memorial on the day of the international event, the Holocaust Remembrance Day, which is on April 19th? Elie Wiesel seems to have thoughts similar to mine. I think the American Thinker article correctly interprets Obama's visit as an election year campaign to garner Jewish votes and sympathy. Even his "escort" Elie Wiesel, who also spoke at the event, said that Obama hasn't done enough to mitigate anti-Jewish forces and sentiments around the world. From the American Thinker article linked above:

During the last three years, President Obama did not visit the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. But today, he did; and promptly gave a self-serving campaign speech for Jewish votes...

The president had with him as escort and introducer Elie Wiesel and lavishly praised the Nobel Laureate and Holocaust survivor for his unrelenting campaign to keep the memory of the Holocaust front and center.

But Wiesel did not reciprocate. Instead, determined to tell truth to power, he admonished Obama for not doing nearly enough to confront Assad's atrocities in Syria and Iranian President Ahmadinejad's development of nuclear weapons and threats to wipe Israel off the map...

Since the Holocaust Museum is a national undertaking, it is fitting for a U.S. president to pay an occasional visit and call its lessons to public attention. But by waiting until 2012, an election year, and in the substance of his speech, Obama turned his visit into a political event, just as the presidential-election campaigns move into high gear. It leaves a stain on the museum and the Holocaust to exploit it for political purposes

I suppose Urban Outfitters was "getting ready" for the Holocaust Remembrance Day that was duly, but perversely, remembered by Obama.

Wiesel's suffering, wrinkled face is in contrast to Obama's defiant and arrogant (with the "Mussolini" chin lift) expression. Yet, there is the vacant, frightened look in Obama's eyes on the picture on the left that I've often observed. When intent and action don't jive, something shows, somewhere.

Little Mosque on the Prairie Cancelled, For Now

The current TV ads on the Canadian sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie are a little vague, implying that the series is going on a normal hiatus until new episodes begins next year. But the Calgary Herald calls this "hiatus" a "series finale" and even the CBC nostalgically heads a recent article with "Little Mosque says goodbye."

The Huffington Post is clearer, informing us that:

The groundbreaking CBC comedy is winding down in its sixth and last season, with the series finale set to air on Monday, April 2.

I've written several posts on this show, including this article back in 2008 in the American Thinker, where I observe:

Zarqa Nawaz' [the writer/creator of the show] goal of putting Islam and Muslims into the mainstream culture (as she puts it, although the subtle intentions of the show are to put Muslims above the mainstream culture, as I've pointed out) may be facing a setback. Ratings are down from the premier of two million viewers in January 2007 to about 500,000 in the latest poll in November 2008. But such low ratings have never stopped the CBC from maintaining ideologically appropriate programs, although they are mostly documentary, educational or news shows, like the investigative Fifth Estate, the current affairs The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos, and David Suziki's "green" The Nature of Things. But, Little Mosque on the Prairie can certainly be viewed as a documentary/educational show in sitcom clothing. It is also ideologically appropriate in the multicultural mindset of the CBC programmers.

As I wrote, it was clear that the CBC was financially maintaining an unpopular program, at least in terms of viewership numbers. There have been recent (government) funding cuts to the CBC, which will prompt program cancellations and reduce program hours. So, clearly, any show that doesn't generate the necessary funds is in trouble. And such is the case with this show which pretends to promote (multi)cultural harmony yet is determinedly Muslim, as all things Muslim are.

Still, the CBC isn't cancelling Little Mosque on the Prairie because of cultural disharmony, and the aggressive inroads of Muslims, but simply because the show is no longer generating revenue. It tried to keep the show on the air for as long as possible. I don't doubt, though, that the ingenious fabricators of multiculturalism will find a way to bring back a similar show onto our small screens some time soon.

Signs and Symbols

The above photo is of a side street in the downtown core of Toronto, right next to a big supermarket. I had to rush to get my camera out to get the shot. It is pretty straightforward. The small church in the foreground gives a focal point for pedestrians and cars. Nearby is one of the many buildings that are rising up in the Toronto landscape. In this case, it competes with the little church. There are satellite dishes on the balconies of this high rise, and one is prominent in the photo. These dishes bring programs from around the world, mostly from Asia (India) and the Middle East. People these days don't even have to bother with watching English program television.

There's a Russian comedian (I can't remember his name now) who joked that he learned English by watching TV. Of course, he watched the action-packed detective series, and ended up talking like a thug or a cop. His other joke was that he also started speaking in Spanish, since some of the stations he could get without paying cable fees were in Spanish.

Still, he lived to joke about it, in English. I doubt these satellite renting immigrants of our brave new world would be able to (or want to) tell similar jokes a few years down the road.

Back to the photo. What struck me in a fraction of a second was the juxtaposition of the small hijabed woman, the tall man walking in front of her, the large contemporary high rise and of course the little traditional church.

It is unheard of in previous eras to find hijabed Muslims nonchalantly walking down our streets. The tall man in front is so oblivious to these changes that he barely sees the woman just a few steps behind him. The church, although attractive and prominent, is actually spiritually dead. Inner city high rises in Toronto have become immigrants enclaves (with many immigrants receiving government subsidies to live in such places, and rent out satellite dishes). So, religion and culture have no clout now to combat one of the most virulent invaders of Western and Christian societies: Islam, and its twin supporters: immigration and multiculturalism.

Small hijabed women walk around city streets as symbols of this danger (or this invasion) and no-one as much as glances at them. In fact, they have become a protected group, they and their Muslim families, in the wonderful world of Canadian multiculturalism, where everyone is accepted, and no-one can say or do anything about that.

I should add that tall, white men are becoming a rarity in the downtown core, unless one travels further down to the banking and commercial area several blocks down (about a 45 minute walk from this street). Most of these men live with their families in affluent suburbs in the northern peripheries of the city. They simply travel to their offices by train, with the train station having direct links to an underground network of paths that take them to their buildings, they eat their meals in the smart restaurants in the area, they can shop for gifts (perhaps for a wedding anniversary) at the nearby Bay department store, meet their wives for dinner and a show at the theater district just a few steps away, then their day is done.

Who cares what is simmering beneath this pleasant surface?

Little Mosque on the Praries Still Going Strong

The Jerusalem Post's Middle Eastern Musings has recently referenced my article "How Canada's Little Mosque on the Prairie is aiming for our souls" which was published in the American Thinker a couple of years ago (December 13, 2008, to be exact). That was more than three years ago. And what I've written in the article hasn't changed one iota. Little Mosque on the Prairie is still running, now on Mondays at 8:30pm, the best of prime time right after the weekend. I'm not sure who is watching the show, since it was struggling with funds when I wrote the article. But the CBC puts on many shows by using government funds to advance its ideological (leftist) stance, as I explain in the article, and the mosque show is no exception.

The writer of the article exclaims, "we ought to consider that this show’s creators mean to conscript their viewers into the great Ummah. Scary." She continues that "the popularity of Little Mosque on the Prairie leaves me simultaneously shocked, flabbergast, uneasy, and numb."

She wrote this in response to my observations in my article that the show:

intends to introduce, as unobtrusively as possible, the Muslim presence to the Canadian public. By borrowing well-recognized and often beloved Canadian symbols [like Laura Wilder's Little House on the Prairie] to advance their show, Muslims can be portrayed as being just like any other Canadian -- in fact they are now the new pioneers of the vast, empty prairies, building their societies like Laura and her family had done.

Well, Muslims are aided and abetted by the culture at large, without whose assistance they wouldn't be able "to conscript their viewers into the great Ummah." And the CBC is the prime culprit.

I still don't know who watches the show. The last time I skimmed through it, the jokes were not funny, the storyline uninteresting, the acting was pretty bad (over-exaggeration is the method), and the town's whites are still classified as the duds while the Muslims the new, brave, smart pioneers. It is easy to write off the show as an obscure program that no-one really watches, a little like infomercials. But, this is part of the unobtrusive march that Muslims are so clever at sustaining, and then suddenly burqa and mosque (and halal) become part of our everyday vocabulary, if not practice.

We can blame overtly leftist organizations for turning our societies upside-down, but they are aided and abetted by our silence, which translates to acquiescence. So, we should stop blaming the obvious culprits, and start by denouncing their tactics. This of course requires an increased awareness and vigilance. And the times require that now. It is no longer an excuse to be uniformed and thus unaware.

Most people, on the left and right, don't see Ali the way we see her

I asked a correspondent what he thought about my blogs on Diana West's sympathetic article on Ayaan Hirsi Ali. Here are my two posts:

This is what my correspondent wrote back:

I've read your two blog posts and the West item on the Scroggins book.

I think your articles are on a different point from Diana's. She is talking about the wrongness of treating an al Qaeda person as the equivalent of an Islam critic like Ali. You are simply criticizing Ali as a non-friend of the West and as an outspoken anti-Christian. The problem, first, is that most people, on left and right, don't see Ali the way we see her. they see her as an anti-Muslim and pro Westerner. Clearly, based on Diana's account, the Scroggins book was objectionable. So I think you could have acknowledged the validity of Diana's point (instead of criticizing her) before going on and saying something like this:

"Yes, for the left to treat an Islam critic as the equivalent of a Muslim terrorist is disgusting, and just what we would expect of the left. But West should also have added that Ali herself is no friend of the West, but seeks her own feminist/Muslim empowerment in a radically open and de-Christianized West."

The final paragraph is fair. Ali is not advocating violence and death. Still, Ali's method is a gentle kill, and although it may take a lot longer, and is a lot less horrific, its goal is similar: to reduce the Western and Christian position and influence in the world.

Once this is in progress, Ali makes no suggestions for any kind of substitute other than a non-religious world, which is essentially what Muslims are looking, since they can fill this cultural and spiritual void with Islam. That is not a "peaceable" solution." Islam lays a death grip (fast or slow) on whatever nation or peoples it targets.

That is why I wrote that West would have been better off not comparing Ali to the truly violent Aafia Siddiqui. We should take Ali for the statements that she makes, and analyze them independently of all the other virulent anti-Westerners. Perhaps her sentiments differ only in degree rather than in content. Yes, many Muslim countries do function rudimentarily well, and others such as Iran and Turkey did have sophisticated cultures, yet their histories are violent, and their cultures and societies stifled and aborted. Iran culminated with the horrific Ayatollahs, and Turkey's democracy has become a chimera. Where there is Islam, there is no long term peaceable solution. Ali should know this better than anyone else.

The Vacillating Hirsi Ali, or All About Ayaan, Part III

In my last post, I tried to understand why Diana West would write a sympathetic article on Hirsi Ali.

To be fair, Ali is a confusing and confused character whose views seem to vacillate based on the time of day. This doesn't make for a stable ally, or a trustworthy writer. Here's a quote from an article (I misidentified it as a Time article, but it is in the Daily Beast) which quotes Ali admonishing Geert Wilders, which I posted in my latest blog on her, "Hirsi Ali, Ex Infidel":

"His weakness is that he plays the renegade, he still wants to position himself as being outside the establishment," says Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an author and former Dutch parliamentarian whose critiques of Islam have been ferocious in their own right. "Once upon a time it was necessary for him to distinguish himself by saying, 'I take a stand, and I am a man of clarity.'"

"He has to move to the middle," urges Hirsi Ali. "He has to distinguish between violent Islamists and nonviolent Muslims. You know, there are so many shades of Muslims right now, and he could use some of them as his allies."

West has an earlier article where she discusses this Daily Beast article, and is a little more critical of Ali's statements on moderate Islam and Wilders.

But, my advice stays the same. Ali is a confusing and confused personality. I think it is best not to hold her as any kind of reliable writer or thinker when it comes to issues on Islam.

All About Ayaan: Part II

The normally lucid Diana West has an odd column up. Perhaps she's getting tangled in degrees of morality.

She is defending Ayaan Hirsi Ali against the tirades of a writer I've never heard of, but who writes for the leftist magazine The Nation and also for the New York Times.

Rather than defend Ali, perhaps West could have just left Deborah Scroggins' ugly book alone. Sometimes, by defending nominal allies against the tirades of their enemies, we lose our own innocence.

I've written several posts on Ali showing that despite her forceful and belligerent denunciations of Islam, she is no real friend or ally of the West. She gained attention outside of the Netherlands when she forcefully attacked Islam. Much later on, she wrote several articles and went on televised interviews attacking Christianity (or more consistently, all religions, but specifically Christianity). Here is what I wrote about her appearance on the Colbert Show in 2010 (the video is here) and her negative views of Christianity:

At one point, Colbert, the liberal, refuses to accept Ali demonizing Islam. But, perhaps he is less of a liberal than he makes out (TV shows are notoriously left-leaning, and he has to "play the game" to keep the ratings up). What Colbert does, unprecedented in other shows and interviews I've watched, is to invite Ali to Christianity, after having made her admit that she's an atheist. Partly, I think it is his way of telling her to put her money where her mouth is, since she is telling Christians to proselytize to Muslims, and get them to convert to the "better religion" Christianity.

At this point, Ali goes all out in mocking Christianity, which she has no intention whatsoever of joining. She makes fun of the Eucharist, brushes aside the notion of hell in Christian theology, and denounces Jesus Christ, saying she prefers the Enlightenment philosophers to him. Colbert did keep pushing her (in the guise of talk-show humor) until she reached this vocal and hostile condemnation.

I write about her failed project to write a philosophical discourse:

Initially, she had planned to write a philosophical discourse which she had decided to title Shortcuts to Enlightenment. But she abandoned this project to continue with her roster of memoirs and autobiographies, and wrote the memoir Nomad instead. I've written before that this approach is probably more financially lucrative, and anything she says will be attributed to her opinions or her "personal story" and therefore cannot be refuted by scholars or historians.

In the Absence of God

Liam Neeson lost his wife, Natasha Richardson, in a ski accident in 2009. She was skiing in a Canadian resort, and died under the Canadian health care banner. I wrote here that her injuries needn't have taken her life.

Perhaps that is why Liam Neeson acquired that listless expression in the couple of years after her death. There is no doubt that he missed her. I always thought that he never accepted her death. But, being the son-in-law of the formidable leftist Vanessa Redgrave, he didn't have the words with which to articulate his suspicions that her death had something to do with the inadequate medical care she received in Montreal.

Now, three years after the death of his wife, he is contemplating leaving his Roman Catholic God for the god of the Muslims.

Here's today's Sun article on Neeson:

The actor, 59, admitted Islamic prayer "got into his spirit" while filming in Turkish city Istanbul.

He said: "The Call to Prayer happens five times a day and for the first week it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit and it's the most beautiful, beautiful thing.

I agree that Islamic mosques, especially the sophisticated types in Turkey and Iran, can be beautiful. But, there must be something lulling and mesmerizing about those intricate patterns and the rhythmic calls of the muezzin that puts its adherents into a trance. The prayers themselves, around whose calls a Muslim's days are constructed, have a rhythmic certainty to them. The genuflections, timed around these prayers, instill a meditative aura. Even the architecture and design in Islamic art act to seduce the believer (the practitioner) toward Allah.

Neeson continues:

I was reared a Catholic but I think every day we ask ourselves, not consciously, what are we doing on this planet? What's it all about?

"I'm constantly reading books on God or the absence of God and atheism.

Neeson seems to have acquired a hardened confidence in his 2012 photo (above). It could be that he's less vulnerable. But, it could be that he has made some kind of spiritual decision. We'll just have to wait and see what he does (and looks like) in the next couple of years. In the absence (rejection) of God, we don't find nihilism (atheism), but a different god, who is ever ready to grasp our souls.

Neeson isn't the only prominent figure to be attracted to this Allah through times of turmoil and angst. Ingrid Mattson was a devout Christian from her childhood to young adulthood. I discuss here her disappointments with God, which led her to finally reject him and turn to another god. She is now an important member of the Muslim world.

Jarvis Collegiate Update

In my previous post on my comments on the Toronto Star article "Jarvis Collegiate Teens hurling slushies and slurs in Gay Village" I wrote:

I think this type of "intolerance" will grow in Toronto, where the multicultural policy of Toronto, notwithstanding "integrated" high schools, actually favors group separation. The even more aggressive and violent Muslims (who are simply following the mandates of their prophet), who now make a considerable part of the Toronto population, will only increase these antagonisms towards any one and they feel doesn't follow their religious edicts.

The comments section of the Toronto Star article has several posters who say that the school has a large Muslim student body.

Drive by this school on a lunch hour and you will not see one, white Canadian boy or girl on the front lawn of this school. I attended Jarvis Collegiate Institute twenty three years ago and we were alot more respectful, you could at least find a few born and bred Canadians that stuck together and were raised with Canadian values and pride in our country, including respect and tolerance for others, that's how we were raised. Now you get people from other countries with other belief systems and cultural behaviours taking over and imposing thier aggressive and foreign behaviour towards others. I don't give a damn if you consider me racist, if racist is being proud of what Canada used to be and embracing the norms of decency, respect, intelligent dialogue and tolerance, than so be it. I'm tired of feeling a minority in my own country and I'll go so far as to say Canadian kids would not have done this to that man in the Village.

I have personally been attacked by a group of 3 Muslim girls (all dark skinned and wearing traditional head coverings), probably about 16/17 years old. This took place around the corner from the school earlier this month. They shouted "F-----" and hurled chunks of ice at my dog and I, then followed us for several minutes. This is assault and harassment, and clearly a hate crime. I guess in their culture this is acceptable. Toronto needs to wake up and see the deeper issue. This public school has a predominantly islamic student body. We can preach acceptance all we want, but their cultural and social education starts at home and at their places of worship. This is not a problem that is going away, unfortunately, I think we're just seeing the beginning of a cultural shift in the downtown core.

I searched for the data that "sam villa" posted (without any references), and it is available in Wikipedia here, for the Toronto Centre demographics for 2001 (which is where the Jarvis Collegiate is located). Questions on religion are only asked every ten years, and the next were due for the 2011 census (the most recent census), but I couldn't find Statistics Canada's information on religious affiliations for 2011.

Instead, I found information from various sources on the projected growth of Muslims in Toronto between 1991 and 2001, and 2001 and 2017.

These numbers are daunting. An almost tripling of Muslims over a 20 year period is no small number. The aggressive nature of Muslims, aided by host countries who seem ever-ready to fulfill their desires (and demands), will not abate, and will likely increase.

Jarvis Collegiate

[This is a long blog post. But most of the information is explanatory quotes from other sources, some of which I've reproduced close to their original length.]

I had meant to post on the Jarvis Collegiate a few months ago, and a recent post at Laura Wood's The Thinking Housewife reminded me of it.

A reader (Alan) at her site writes about a high school in St. Louis, which he starts with:

This is the story of a dead school in a decadent city.

He continues:

Grover Cleveland High School was opened in St. Louis in 1915 in a building as massive and impressive as a castle. It was designed by renowned architect William B. Ittner. Today it stands closed and abandoned, a victim of decades of neglect and suicidal public policies.

This massive, castle-like high school building architecture apparently was part of the Canadian aesthetics as well. One particular Canadian architect, C.E. Cyril Dyson, was the designer behind seven of Toronto's high schools between 1890 and 1924. All these buildings still stand as high schools and are imposingly grand.

Although none have been neglected to the extent that Alan writes about the St. Louis school, I think there is another degradation taking place, at least in the one closest to my neighborhood, the Jarvis Collegiate. Here is some of the history behind the collegiate:

Jarvis Collegiate was originally founded as a private school, beginning in 1797. However, in 1807 the government of Ontario, then known as the British colony of Upper Canada, took over the school and made it part of a network of eight new, public "grammar schools" (secondary schools), one for each of the eight districts of Upper Canada. Jarvis was the grammar school for the Home District, an area covering much of the modern GTA. Its first name was the Home District Grammar School...

The original 1807 school building was a shed attached to the headmaster's house. Strachan [headmaster 1812-1822] raised funds for a new two-storey building, completed in 1816 on College Square, a 6-acre (24,000 m2) lot north of St. James' Cathedral, bounded by Richmond, Adelaide, Church and Jarvis Streets. In 1825 the school was renamed the Royal Grammar School. Later the name was changed to Toronto High School. In 1829 it moved to the corner of Jarvis and Lombard Streets. When Upper Canada College was founded in 1829 it shared a building with the Grammar School and for several years the two organizations were essentially unified. UCC eventually moved to its own facilities.

- Sir John Strachan: Superintendent of Education for Upper Canada, founded University of Toronto, first Anglican Bishop of Toronto, and headmaster of Jarvis Collegiate from 1812-1822

The Jarvis Collegiate Alumni Society website has fascinating photos from the 1907 year book. Students at the collegiate were male, until the first female students were accepted in 1872, "although double doors separated the genders until 1893" according to this website.

Here's a funny juxtaposition of events:
- 1975: first female principal
- 1976: first teachers' strike

Here is a website of class photos from 1982-2008. There seems to be an equal number of male and female students in the class of 1982, with the majority of students white (photos a and b). Asian (East Asian) females seem to dominate the class of 2008 (large JPG file here). Whites are barely visible in the 2008 class photo (barely present), and the photographer seems to have put the white couple and the tall blonde girl right up front deliberately to offset the non-white multi-culti mix of the school.

I've done a rough count of the number of East Asian females over the total number of students for the class of 2008, and I've come up with 28/108, which is roughly 26%. I'm sure the ratio is still higher for 2012, and I would also think that the multicultural count has also gone up.

The ration of whites to non-whites for the class of 2008 is 13/108, which is 12%.

I cannot find any recent (2000 and on), famous, alumni who graduated from the once prestigious Jarvis Collegiate. Wikipeida cites Olivia Chow, the leftist (lefty) New Democratic Party (NDP) Member of Parliament, as a "notable" alumnus from the 1970s. It makes sense that a Chinese woman (Chow was born in China, and speaks with a strong Chinese accent) is a contemporary prominent figure in Canadian politics. I've written here that the Chinese seem not to fare as well as anticipated (economically, educationally etc.) and are latching on to the grievance system set up by (and for) non-white immigrants. Chow is a leader in grievance politics. I suspect that many of the Chinese woman at Jarvis will follow Chow's lead as they enter the real, post-high school world.

Winsor ran into a friend a few minutes after the slushie attack who’d been targeted with ice and been called ‘faggot.’...

"In my mind, it’s a bunch of teenagers behaving badly all around. I think it’s general hooliganism."

Anderson [a transvestite] disagrees...

"These kids promote violence by calling people ‘faggot’ and doing what they’re doing," [s]he said.

It is interesting to see the homosexual Winsor's tolerance towards his aggressors: "In my mind, it’s a bunch of teenagers behaving badly all around. I think it’s general hooliganism."

I'm sure these "hooligans" are a mix of the multicultural smorgasbord (reflecting the Jarvis student body) which homosexuals like Winsor would totally approve of. I wonder what he would say if a bunch of white kids had accosted him? White Nationalist, Far Right, Nazi thugs (hooligans sounds more forgiving than thugs)?

Hirsi Ali's advice to Geert Wilders

From a recent Time article on Geert Wilders:

"His weakness is that he plays the renegade, he still wants to position himself as being outside the establishment," says Ayaan Hirsi Ali, an author and former Dutch parliamentarian whose critiques of Islam have been ferocious in their own right. "Once upon a time it was necessary for him to distinguish himself by saying, 'I take a stand, and I am a man of clarity.'"

"He has to move to the middle," urges Hirsi Ali. "He has to distinguish between violent Islamists and nonviolent Muslims. You know, there are so many shades of Muslims right now, and he could use some of them as his allies."

Since when has any shade of Muslim been an ally to non-Muslims? It is astonishing that after so many years studying and writing about Muslims, and at one point living the life of a Muslim, Ali can make such nonchalant and ignorant remarks about Muslims and their interaction with non-Muslims. And not only that, it is astonishing how much she undermines the work the Wilders has done which has placed him in the awful predicament he lives in now. The moderate shades of Muslims that Ali talks about have not made a single attempt to get him out of this predicament, since they don't exist. And Wilders himself is hardly the extremist that Ali makes him out to be, although he has no illusions about Islam.

It is no wonder that Ali is safe and living openly in the US since her stance, underneath all her belligerence, has been that Islam can be reformed, and that Muslim extremists (terrorists) are on the periphery and have nothing to do with the real Islam. And I don't think she has ever renounced her Muslim cultural background (despite her strong rhetoric), and I wonder if at some point, now that she has a son, she will pick up whatever of the religion she can without losing too much face.

Idiot Ilana Mercer Is At It Yet Again

I rarely reference other bloggers and writers with epithets, but Mercer earned this one after I ended my correspondence with her when she cleverly introduced "idiot" in conjunction with my name in one of her emails. Of course, I was writing to her in a formal, courteous manner (I don't have the time - nor the desire - to dig up those emails) since she was a former Canadian (immigrant) who might have had interesting insights on the U.S., the country she immigrated to from Canada.

So, here is another idiot blog post by Mercer on Ron Paul, where she comments on the presidential candidate on Jay Leno:

Update, Strassel's Non Sequitur:

I thought Paul was strong on Jay Leno, but should probably not have cozied-up to the Left in the way he did. More on that later: [video provided]

Leave aside whether these statements are true or not: Paul has taken a classic Chris-Matthews kind of ad hominem swipe against Michele Bachmann: she hates Muslims. Santorum hates gays and Muslims [Mercer sounds fine so far]. Siding with the Left by adopting its arguments may be situationally advantageous, but it is wrong, and will backfire on a Republican candidate in the long run [Back to normal for Mercer. Ron Paul a Republican candidate? Libertarians always want to latch on to some "respectable" organization, to deflate their positions which ordinary people would not accept] .

This tactic, even if it was a not-so-funny joke, damages Ron Paul’s effectiveness from the vantage point of conservative libertarians [Oxymoron?]who think that liberty cannot be reduced to the non-aggression axiom and has a cultural and civilizational dimension.

This is the section that really needs attention:

Paul is wrong to imply, reductively, that Islamic terrorism in general and September 11 in particular are the sole consequences of American foreign policy. Libertarians cannot persist in such unidirectional formulations. Our adventurous foreign policy is a necessary precondition for Muslim aggression but it is far from a sufficient one.

The first paragraph starts off good enough, but as usual with Mercer, she goes full steam ahead to reveal her true libertarian colors.

"Our adventurous foreign policy is a necessary precondition for Muslim aggression but is far from a sufficient one" reads like a mathematical formula gone wrong.

Muslims don't need any "necessary precondition" such as an "adventurous foreign policy" to launch their Jihad - a word which Mercer doesn't use once in her "explanation" of Muslim's war-like behaviors over the centuries. Muslims simply follow the mandates they receive from the Koran, and their prophet Mohammed's various texts explaining and expounding upon the Koran, telling them to eradicate the world of infidels, through conversion, submission and Jihad. Various writers, of various scholarly and non-scholarly backgrounds, have shown again and again that the overriding purpose of Muslims vis-à-vis the rest of the non-Muslim world is to achieve Allah's Ummah (has Mercer read any of them?). Muslims are strategists and tacticians while planning their invasions. They are not irrational aggressors (i.e., they have their own purpose and logic). Whether the infidels sit quietly, or start wars with them is irrelevant to Muslims.

More than ten years after the Jihadi attacks on America, and countless other ones that occur throughout the world since, Mercer is unable to report on the real news.

There's for idiocy for you.

Review of Bat Ye'or's new book Europe, Globalization, and the Coming of the Universal Caliphate

Here's my review of Bat Ye'or's new book Europe, Globalization, and the Coming of the Universal Caliphate.

Bat Ye’or, author of Eurabia: The Euro-Arab Axis, has published a new book titled Europe, Globalization, and the Coming of the Universal Caliphate. It is a concise, five-chapter book, and the contents mince no words. "The Destruction of the Nations of Europe" is ominously the final chapter. And the link between Europe and Islam is under the chapter "The European Union and the Organization of the Islamic Conference: A Common Struggle." There are two chapters on multiculturalism, one simply titled "Multiculturalism," and the other "Multiculturalism, the OIC and the Alliance of Civilizations."

The general theme of the book is the European link with Islam, and how many stages of Islam’s presence in Europe were aided and abetted by the policies and directions of European governments and leaders.

Eurabia is a term coined by Bat Ye’or, and she explains this concept fully in her book. Under the subtitle: "The Origin of Eurabia," Ye’or paints a frightening picture of former Nazis collaborating with Muslim leaders to enter and influence the infrastructures of European society and politics under a Muslim and Arab body. One of these earliest associations was initiated in 2002 under The Euro-Arab Dialogue, which formalized agreements between the European Economic Commission and countries in the Arab League that were made as far back as 1973. But, the history goes further than that, when Nazi antisemitism was supported by the Arab world, and Hitler actively sought the alliance of Muslim countries in his (and their) quest to annihilate the Jews.

Bat Ye’or writes in Europe, Globalization, and the Coming of the Universal Caliphate:

...in Islam peace only exists between Muslims, and not between Muslims and non-Muslims5. The word “peace” applied to non-Muslims requires conversion or submission (dhimmitude)…striving in the path of Allah to spread Islam in the world is not war but a pious, just action and a religious duty.

Islam is not only a religious concept, but a warrior one as well, where the world’s non-believers (non-Muslims) are brought to Allah through armed jihad. The world has always belonged to Allah, and those parts that were taken away over the centuries have to be returned to him, hence the argument for violent wars against “infidel” territories, who blaspheme against Allah but who can receive eternal blessing and salvation once they and their people return to Islam.

Under the heading "The Centrality of Israel in Islamic-Christian Relations" Bat Ye’or clarifies what is the common bond that binds Muslims and Christians and of course Europeans: the hatred of Jews and of Israel. The tactic Muslims have used to bring Christians to their fold is through the dejudaization the Bible. There is no tactic for Jews, as Mohammed has clearly delineated, only death. Bat Ye’or once again references Europe’s darkest hour, Nazism, to show this bond between Islam and a Europe without its Christian roots. She writes:

The policy of dejudaization of Christianity is not new. Based on prejudice and ignorance of Judaism, it reached in paroxysm in Nazism and served as a binding force between, on the one hand, Nazis and antisemites in Europe, and on the other hand, their faithful allies in the Muslim world – including the Arab Churches and Christian Arabs, particularly Palestinians.

Modern Europe continued with this antisemitism and Muslim collaboration through a clever strategy of immigration. Hypocritical leaders chastised, and won over, their populations by labeling aversion to immigration as racism, and that it is equal to the evil of the antisemitism that led to the death of thousands of Jews only a few decades ago.

Europe’s pact with Arabs was sealed in 1973 through the European Community (precursor to the European Union). Persistent terrorist attacks in European cities by Palestinians, and the OPEC oil boycott broke the European front, and the leaders made a deal with the Muslim world to recognize the PLO, to side with the Arab world against Israel and the United States, and to allow unrestricted Muslim immigration into Europe to dampen European nationalistic movements. The Muslim lands would in turn quell the terrorist attacks and give Europeans access to their oil. The Iraq war in 2003, President Bush’s "war on terror" campaign, prompted fresh anti-American and anti-Israeli sentiments, with renewed Euro-Arab pacts, including strengthening ties with the PLO.

One of the most frightening revelations of the book is the collaboration of European nations with former Nazi Germany officials who had "recycled themselves in influential positions in postwar European society...The war against the Jews waged in World War II did not stop in 1945, for its ideology and tactics continued through other channels converging in Palestine," writes Bat Ye’or.

The policy of open immigration of Muslims into European countries led to the most amorphous effect of the Arab-European pact, which manifested itself into a policy of multiculturalism. But, Muslims and Arabs refused to be integrated into European society, creating pockets of their culture within the cities they inhabited. Rather than confront this, the history of multiculturalism in Europe has been to find ways to circumvent this refusal and still allow such alien cultures to live in their societies. Islamic customs, holidays, dress-codes and law were accorded an equal footing with those of their host countries. “Diversity” was coined to accommodate these cultural impasses. This precipitated “The destruction of the nations of Europe” as Bat Ye’or titles her penultimate chapter, which amongst other elements, has allowed totalitarian, anti-diverse, anti-multicultural Islam to flourish, and the ever-growing Muslim population, now several generations old, to expand and destroy the centuries-old European civilizations.

The "networks of global governance" – the Islamic Caliphate – are now in place. Bat Ye’or concludes:

In the twenty-first century we are reliving a replica and restoration of the Islamic Caliphate of the seventh century, through approval and pliability of Western leaders. One might compare these demands on the West with Article 23b of the Cairo Declaration on Human Rights in Islam, which stipulates:

Everyone shall have the right to participate directly or indirectly in the administration of his country’s public affairs. He shall also have the right to assume public office in accordance with the provisions of shari’a.
